Pickles wants to go deep sea fishing. We wake up before sunrise, (Earthicans Chris and Jules are not morning people) and we board the the Captain Anderson IV.
But things don’t go as planned…
As our fishing vessel leaves Saint Andrew’s Bay and into open water the waves get bigger and bigger. After a mere twenty minutes at sea the captain says there will be no fishing today and turns the boat around.
We make it back to shore and decide to go swimming near the jetty at Saint Andrew’s State Park, but again our fun beach plans are thwarted by nature. As another wave of heavy rain is hitting us sideways, we pack up and leave the park.
All of this not being able to do what we are trying to do is making us hungry. So even though we can’t catch fish right now maybe we can still eat some fresh fish.
This is what we order:
- Fried alligator
- Seafood platter (fried fresh redfish, fried shrimp, fried oysters, fried clams, corn, mashed potatoes, garlic bread, and hush puppies)
- Grilled catch of the day (redfish) with fries, corn, garlic bread, and pineapple coleslaw
- Hurricane in a souvenir cup for Chris
- Diet Coke for Jules (like 5 of them)
And, since we are in Florida, we have to try the key lime pie.
